University Campaigns & Priorities
The following areas are priorities for the U's continued excellence:
Scholarships
In a world where learning is the key to success in virtually
every endeavor, there is no gift more precious than the opportunity
to continue one's education. Scholarships create that opportunity.
The U seeks additional scholarship funds in order to compete
more effectively for top students and to broaden educational
choices for students from diverse economic and cultural backgrounds.
Marriott Library Renovation-Innovation
Campaign
As the state's flagship research library, the J. Willard Marriott Library touches
thousands of students every day, providing them with the resources and the
assistance to better themselves through education. However, the 1968 wing of
the Library must be renovated in order to provide a safe, functional setting
for students and to create appropriate facilities needed for today's innovative,
technology-based programs.
Your support of the Health Sciences Center will help build facilities that will improve and modernize education, research, and health care. With your help we can establish endowments that support deserving students, outstanding professors and promote important, groundbreaking research.
Everything we know, say and do begins in the brain, within a complex circuitry that interprets the outside world and forms our responses. Yet we still don't know how this circuitry works, or how to repair damage caused by disease or injury. By supporting the Brain Institute you invest in helping people, through discoveries about basic brain function, development of useful technologies and promotion of public interest in science.
Scientific Computing and Imaging Institute
An American proverb says: "You can't leap a twenty-foot chasm in two
ten-foot jumps." Real scientific progress, of the kind that will keep
the United States at the forefront of scientific achievement, relies on
revolutionary rather than incremental advances. Scientists at the SCI
Institute are creating a paradigm shift in scientific computing and
across the sciences by developing a new generation of computing and
imaging tools. This visionary, far-reaching work
will help researchers in medicine, national security, energy
development, and other crucial disciplines make the twenty-foot leap.
As Federal research funds increasingly flow toward incremental,
risk-averse projects, the cutting-edge research performed by the SCI
Institute depends more and more on gifts from our donors. Help us
as we work to enable researchers in all the fields touched by
scientific computing and imaging to make the twenty-foot leap into a healthier, more secure, and more prosperous future.
