Tana Allred
The J. George Jones, Jr., and Velma Rife Jones Memorial Fund
was established in 1966 through the generosity of the late Velma
Rife Jones. Born in Wyoming in 1902, Mrs. Jones graduated from
the University of Utah in 1926. Mrs. Jones moved to California
and taught at Berkeley where she met her husband, another U of
U alumni.
It was Velma's wish to "do something good for kids." The J. George Jones, Jr. and Velma Rife Jones Memorial Fund is a fulfillment of her request.
Among the recipients of the Jones' generosity is Tana Allred, a graduate student in the College of Education. "With the discretionary time I have also been able to provide service to others The young woman I am tutoring went from C's to A's after we spent time together. I am grateful to have the opportunity to help someone else."
